Alongside a throwback photo taken from an episode of The Rosie Show, O'Donnell wrote on Instagram: "My head felt like I had masking tape on it — do not recommend."

In a 2021 interview with Vulture, the actress opened up about her outlook on plastic surgery and why she felt avoiding it would be beneficial for her acting career.

“By the time I left my show in 2002, I was very well-known as that character. I think it would have been hard to cast me in a role in a movie,” O’Donnell said in reference to her first daytime show.

“I always knew as an actress that when I got into my 60s, I would be playing the Geraldine Page roles. I wasn’t going to have plastic surgery. I was going to look the way a woman my age should look, and I always thought that would be a blessing in my older age. I would get to play the Colleen Dewhurst roles. That has turned out to be true. I’m getting all this acting work now that I’m closing in on 60," she explained at the time.

O'Donnell has, however, undergone the knife for weight-specific reasons, having done a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy in 2013 that helped stem her appetite.

In recent months, she's been very vocal about her use of Mounjaro, a popular drug that several celebrities have used as a non-invasive alternative for slimming down.

Earlier this month, she uploaded a similar post to Instagram, this one revealing her "shocked" reaction to discovering she’d dropped a clothing size after trying on clothes at a store. "Went shopping to buy a comfy lounge wear outfit for my 22 hour flight to Australia. Was undecided as I cant see myself in this new smaller body," she wrote.
